Badshai Mosque Lahore

Badshahi Mosque Lahore is situated in front of Manar-e-Pakistan. Its also called the royal mosque of Lahore. The Badshahi Mosque construction was started in 1671 and completed in 1673 and this was done by sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. This mosque is second largest in not only in Pakistan but also in South Asia. Badshahi Mosque is fifth largest mosque in all over the world. One lakh people can say prayer in this mosque at a time.
Mughal Rule
This mosque remained the world’s largest mosque from 1673 to 1986 (period of 313 years). This mosque was also the greatest empire of Mughal Rule.
Sikh rule
On 1799, Raja Ranjeet Singh took the control on Lahore City. Raja Ranjeet damaged the mosque badly. He used the courtyard of the mosque for the his army horses and different type of hujras were built there for army.
British rule
After taking rule of india, British continue damaging badshahi mosque like Sikh Rulers. British used this mosque for different purposes. The rule of British ends on 1947.
Muslim rule
During the period of 1939 to 1960, Pakistani government restored this mosque with the cost of 4.8 million rupees. Pakistani government built a museum in this mosque that contains relics (nawadrats) of Muhammad PBUH, Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Fatima.
